We finally have a high-quality reissue of Orchestra Luna's eponymous album on CD. UK-based Market Square Records reissued the album in July of 2007, as CD MSMCD147. The CD includes additional artwork and some excellent notes by both John O'Regan and Rick Berlin himself. The CD is readily available, though at the usual import price, from Amazon and several other on-line sources. Prior to this reissue, the only (legal) CD version of the album was the Japanese import described elsewhere on this site.

The CD packaging uses the same basic artwork and covers as the original vinyl album from Epic. However, the inner sleeve of the Epic release, which included liner notes by Tom Werman and the lyrics to most of the songs on the album, have been replaced by a well-designed booklet. This booklet includes the original liner notes, comments on the individual songs and a retrospective by John O'Regan, reflections by Rick Berlin on the "rise and fall" of OL, and some publicity photos of the group.

Several reviews of the reissue have already been posted on-line. Among them is Eddie Lascu's review at Gnosis2000, which is highly-recommended.

I have to state (with some embarrassment) that I was "sort-of involved" in the reissue. Peter Muir, who supervised the project, contacted me in 2006 about participating in the project, including possibly writing liner notes. I can't say whether the project was motivated by this website, but the website was obviously why I was contacted. Unfortunately, due to my wife's extended illness and subsequent death in late 2006, I withdrew from working on just about all external projects. If I helped to get the project going even in any small way, I'm very pleased and proud. I offered the use of some of my memorabilia in developing the reissue, specifically the publicity photos I have collected, and I believe that the photos in the booklet are from my collection. Kudos to Peter Muir and the whole Market Square team!

If you want to correspond with me about Orchestra Luna, I'd be happy to give you my poor opinions. Just send mail to me. I would be particularly interested in your comments on the artists.
